Now

This is my «Now Page», describing what is happening in my life at the moment:

Last updated on 22.06.2025 from my cozy home in Zurich

What my days look like at the moment

  • Reading a lot. I’m always reading two books at a time. A fiction book for fun and before bed, and a non-fiction book to learn something where I also take notes and write book summaries (which I then publish on this blog).
  • Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) with Obsidian. Figured out a good system to use and now I am using it almost daily to manage most of my life and to capture and develop my thoughts. Feels really nice to have a reliable system where I can just offload whatever I have on my mind. A lot of mental capacity is freed for me by using Obsidian.
    • I also started journalling with a book called “Ein Guter Plan” (“a good plan”). It’s a really nice framework to help sorting and reflecting your own thoughts.
  • Sports! At the beginning of the year I was really motivated to go running so I signed up for a half-marathon and trained regularly (3x per week). After a few months the initial hype faded and now I am fighting a bit with myself to get back into running again (the half-marathon date only comes closer!). The main issue with running now is that I started to go Bouldering once or twice per week with a group of friends and I like it way more than running. I’ll see if I will still go on regular runs after the half-marathon is done…
  • Buying more boardgames than playing them unfortunately. It gets only more difficult to find the time and the people to play boardgames with, at least the type of boardgames I enjoy the most (big, long, heavy, complex, strategic 😎). But this is probably correlated to summer time and the warm temperatures. Once it gets cold, dark and cozy again, I expect to return to fun nerd-sessions at the table.
  • Trying to figure out what to do in life and where to go, as I feel a bit like in a limbo at the moment, because I do not have anything big going on or a greater goal to work towards to.

Career

  • Working as a Software Engineer
    • Getting back into the working groove after having backpacked in Latin America for 1 year
    • Getting to know the .NET ecosystem as I now mainly program in C#
      • In previous Jobs I wrote mostly Java
